At Maverik, the safety and wellbeing of all people is of the utmost importance to us. We’ve assessed the COVID-19 threat daily with the guidance of the CDC, in partnership with local public health officials, and under the advisement of medical experts. Maverik remains prepared for a variety of scenarios we encounter in the communities we serve, especially those that impact the health and safety of our employees and customers. In addition to our already stringent cleaning and sanitization procedures, we’ve redoubled our efforts.
Our Adventure Guides have gloves at their disposal that they can use in any situation and in any role in the store. We also continue to assess the need for masks with a sensitivity to the urgent need our medical communities have for these resources today. We’re incorporating additional hand sanitizers and sneeze guards into our stores, and we’re continuing to assess the customer journey for more ways to improve.
Our stores have increased the frequency of cleaning and sanitizing surfaces, and we’ve led our teams through additional training on public health and safety. As we navigate the evolving situation, our stores may incorporate even more approaches to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all people, because we want to continue to be a great operator for our customers and a great place to work for our employees.
We have made plans to ensure a steady supply chain for quick purchases on the road to recovery, and we’re committed to serving our communities in this time of need, but we have reduced our hours. We made the decision to close at night to allow our teams to rest and refresh, as well as to deep clean and restock the stores. This change will provide relief to store teams at a time when we’re asking them to do so much more for the safety and wellbeing of themselves and our customers. It’s our duty as an essential business to uphold stringent sanitization standards for the communities in which we operate and live.
Lastly, at Maverik we believe in the Titanium Rule (which is even better than the Golden Rule, because it means that we treat others better than they expect to be treated). To show our hardworking team members that we care, we created Titanium Care – a program to help them and their families if they’re impacted by COVID-19. We’re also paying store team members a wage premium for their dedicated service to our communities.
Rest assured that we’re putting the health and wellbeing of people first in our decision-making at Maverik. Thanks so much for being a loyal customer to Maverik and for trusting us as your first stop for adventure.
